In 1993 we were the first in the world to reproduce the Central American bushmaster (Lachesis stenophrys) and the blackhead bushmaster (Lachesis melanocephala). To date we are still the only people to have reproduced the blackhead species—quite possibly the rarest venomous snake on earth. We are conservationists. We believe in the right of people to interact with nature, and in the importance of propagating rare or endangered (and sometimes dangerous) species in a world where natural habitats are continuing to be destroyed at an alarming and increasing rate.
